Belly Dance is one of the oldest dance forms known to man. With stars like Shakira and Beyonce using the exotic moves and rhythms of the Middle East in their performances and numerous Belly Dance fitness DVDs and TV shows like FitTV's "Shimmy", Belly Dance is quickly gaining popularity as a dance form and fitness method for woman wanting a fun alternative to traditional dance and exercise classes.

Class Descriptions

BobyRaQ Belly Dance Fitness
Have fun and burn calories with real belly dance technique drills and dance combinations. Perfect for any skill level. Each week we focus on a different part of the body and we learn fun, short dance routines to get your body rockin'. Prereq: None. You may join these classes at anytime!

BodyRaQ Introduction to Belly Dance
This is where the fun begins! You will learn the foundational moves of belly dance and begin learning how to play the zills (finger cymbals).You will also be introduced to the dances history, costuming, and music.

Belly Dance Technique 1: Creation - Beginner Belly Dance
This technique intensive class focuses on helping you master the basics of belly dance movement drills and dance combinations to practice and sharpen dance skills. We will practice playing the zills (finger cymbals) and begin using veils in this class. Please bring zills and a veil to class. Some zills and veils will be available to borrow during class.

Belly Dance Technique 2: Exploration - Intermediate/Advance Belly Dance
(This class is by instructor permission only)
This class focuses on growing you as a dancer and performer. You will learn more complex technique and gain a greater understanding of the many facets of Middle Eastern dance, including musical appreciation and interpretation, modern and folkloric styling, presentation, professionalism and of course, continue to master your zill playing . Taught by topic or through choreography. Prereq: This class is by instructor permission only. If you are in any other of my current classes or learning from someone else, and you want to grow in your knowledge and skill, don't hesitate to talk to me about your goals.
